THE GIFT

It’s Christmastime and here we go.

It seems we’re not happy unless it’s a box with a bow.

But I received a gift of a more lasting kind,

A special gift available to all of mankind.

I found peace and a brand new me,

Best of all, this gift was free.

I asked Jesus into my heart,

And in exchange I got a brand new start.

My sins were forgiven, whiter than snow.

That gave me a comfort like I’ve never known.

Because He died there on the cross,

My debt was cancelled He paid the cost.

I don’t have to use to just to get high,

The Holy Spirit allows me to fly.

In the midst of the storm He waits on the throne.

And if I give all my troubles to Him,

He’ll carry me through and the battle we win.

He’s always there, He never let us go.

He’s as faithful as the seeds I sow.

If I reach out He’s always there,

If I let go I get quite a scare.

You see I’ve been given forgiveness through His great grace,

Wonderful Mercy, sin with no trace.

I’ve been given salvation, the promise of what’s to be.

And through Jesus Christ I’ve been truly set free.

 I want to tell you this gift is available to all,

The big, the strong, the weak, the small.

The righteous, the filthy, the whores in the street.

If we just take the time and Jesus we meet.

I ask you now to give it a try. Accept this free gift

And together we’ll fly.
